Use this checklist to prepare your environment before testing Symbiotic VCS integrations, Symbiotic Flow, and Symbiotic Code. Only complete the sections that match what you plan to test.

Quick environment check

Run the health check script to automatically verify your setup before you start.
The script requires Node.js to run. It checks:
  • Node.js and npm availability (Node.js 14 or higher recommended)
  • Permission to install global npm packages
  • PowerShell execution policy (Windows only)
  • Proxy configuration
  • Access to the npm registry (registry.npmjs.org:443)
  • Access to api.symbioticsec.ai:443 and llm-proxy.symbioticsec.ai:443
The script is designed for the Symbiotic Code installation. It does not check IDE requirements for Symbiotic Flow or VCS account requirements, so review those sections manually.

Accounts

  • A Symbiotic Security account. Create one at app.symbioticsec.ai, or ask your admin or Symbiotic point of contact for an invitation.

VCS testing

  • A GitHub organization (a free organization is sufficient).
  • A GitLab Premium account.

Shared requirements for Flow and Code

  • A computer running Linux, Windows, or macOS.
  • Network access allowing downloads and uploads to *.symbioticsec.ai.
Linux ARM64 is the only unsupported platform for Symbiotic Flow and Symbiotic Code.
Ask your network administrator to allow the following endpoints on port 443:If TLS inspection is enabled, allowlist *.symbioticsec.ai to avoid SSL certificate errors. See Network and connectivity for proxy configuration.

Symbiotic Flow

In addition to the shared requirements:
  • A VS Code-based IDE installed (VS Code, Cursor, Kiro, Antigravity, etc.).
  • Permission to install the Symbiotic CLI. See antivirus troubleshooting if your antivirus blocks it.
  • Permission to install an IDE extension.

Symbiotic Code

In addition to the shared requirements:
  • Node.js and npm installed. Verify with node -v and npm -v.
  • Permission to install a global npm package (npm install -g @symbioticsec/code).
  • A terminal, such as the default terminal, iTerm, Warp, or an IDE terminal.
On Windows, if the install fails in PowerShell, check your execution policy or try Git Bash. See Installation issues.

Next steps

Once your environment is ready, continue with the installation guide for the product you want to test.
